How to tie your belt for Hinode-Ryu Karate:

Start at the center of the belt and place at your Ki (just below your belly button).

Wrap completely around waist while crossing belt in the back.

While keeping your hands close to your hips, cross the right side over the left.

Using your fingertips, tuck the top layer up behind both layers and switch hands. Pull tight and adjust.

Cross the ends of the belt with the left side on top of the right.

Bring the right end up and down through the loop.

Make sure the belt is not twisted, then pull tight.

If done correctly, the knot of the belt should be a triangle with the small edge of the triangle pointing toward the right and the large opening of the triangle pointing to the left.  This represents the left being larger than the right, as peace is greater than war.
