Self Defense (Brown Belt)

Chokes

Choke #1    While your attacker is bent over in a position to tackle you, take a slight step backward and bring your arm under their throat. Stand up to apply the choke.

Choke #2    From a Frankenstein attack, step forward with the left leg into a left front stance, execute a left cover block then a right reverse scooping block. Take your right arm straight across their throat while moving your right leg forward to an attention stance. Continue moving your left leg around so that you are directly behind the attacker and apply the choke.

Choke #3    While your attacker is on their back on the ground, mount them and cross your arms by placing your left hand on their left collar and your right hand on their right collar. Squeeze to apply the choke.

Choke #4    Your opponent starts from all fours and begins to stand up. As they rise, bring your arm across their throat to put on the choke and pull them backwards on top of you. As they fall backwards on you, wrap your legs around their waist. Pull the choke tight and squeeze the legs downward to apply pressure.

Points of Balance

Points of Balance #1    With your opponent on all fours, you attack from the left side.  With your left arm, trap the attackers left wrist and pull toward the side. With your right arm, press on the left shoulder and push forward drawing your opponent to the floor.

Points of Balance #2    With your opponent on all fours, you attack from the right side.  With your right arm, trap the attackers right wrist and pull toward the side. With your left arm, press on the right shoulder and push forward drawing your opponent to the floor.

Points of Balance #3    With your opponent on all fours, you attack from the left side.  With your left arm, trap the attackers left wrist to pull toward the side. The attacker pulls their arm away, so quickly trap the right arm and pull towards you and roll them to their back.
